The Automated External Defibrillator has really improved the chances of survival for heart attack victims during cardiac arrest.

On the year 2009, the Automated External Defibrillator was made available for public. This device has surely increased the chances of survival for many heart attack victims. This is most especially true for those with heart diseases considering early defibrillation can surely increased the chances of survival.

Prior to the introduction of the Automated External Defibrillator, victims of heart attack are often defibrillated upon the arrival of the ambulance or upon the arrival of the patient to the hospital. A manual defibrillator cannot be operated by an ordinary person with no background training on Advance Cardiac Life Support.

But with the advent of this automated defibrillators, lay rescuers with proper training on its use can now use the device. This is very crucial for survival so and so that AED’s are now place on public places and people are now trained to use the device during medical emergencies.

I am sure that in the long run, more and more people will find out the importance of this great device. Soon, we will be able to see this devices not only on public places, ambulances, but perhaps even in our homes.

When the AED was introduced and was used, there was a significant increase in the survival rate of victims of heart attack. Unlike before when the patient is only defibrillated when the ambulance arrives, there is now a greater chance of providing early defibrillation at the scene prior to the arrival of the ambulance or arrival of the patient to the hospital. This is such a significant advantage for most heart attack vicitms considering that the eariler the defibrillation is given, the greater chance of recovery.
