Teenage Love: An Embarrasing Experience

We've all had embarrassing experiences, especially when we're in our teens, but spare a thought for those who have this kind of recollection which is hard to forget. I didn't think I'd ever regain my dignity!

Despite being reminded of the shocking feelings this moment bought me, I am inclined to share so others might get some kind of peace when thinking about the stupid things they have done.

While riding to school, very slowly so as not to make a mess of my hairstyle and waste $4.00 worth of hairspray, I saw a hot young guy in a very loud car, drive past me and glance into his mirror. He turned a corner and kept circling blocks as I made my way to school. Perhaps he was in hysterics because I was riding a shocking pink bicycle, although that was my mother's idea, not mine; I was running late as usual.

Having turned the last corner and getting near to my high school, I saw the guys coming back down the street, only this time they were coming toward me. This was better, because I could now survey who else was in the car to see if any others were better looking than the driver.

The car sailed past me, the driver pumped the gas, bolstering his own ego and giving me a boost at the same time, and I turned to look back at two of them winking at me through the rear window. Much to my horror, as I turned around, I was heading right for a shiny new Mercedes which was strategically parked...right where it should be, in front of my doctor's house.

With no time to make any logical decision about how to avoid it, I crashed headlong into that fancy darn Merc; my beautiful hair streaming past my face, along with my skirt which was now around my ears and off I went onto the lawn and lay there with my dignity in a state of disrepair. Unfortunately, I had an audience. The guys had miraculously found time to make a U-turn and were now pulling up to the curb to see if I was OK.

They were falling out of the car, laughing their pants off, while I was attempting to console myself and laugh when I honestly didn't feel the need to. I married one of them six years later, but that's for another article in the horror category.

I hope this post helps the next person to recover from a repressed and embarrassing memory; I have a smile on my face right now, but it took 30 years for it to co-exist with this horrifying recollection!
