College party pictures often end up blurry and dimly lit; however, if you would like to take college party pictures that you are proud of, there are a few simple steps to take that will make your party pictures stand out from the ones that everyone else takes.

Instructions

  1. Go easy on the booze. Most likely, many of the people at the party will be getting pretty drunk. It's OK to have a couple of drinks while you are taking pictures, but remember that your mission for the night is to take good pictures, and in order to do that, you need to be able to control your alcohol intake.

  2. Act like a member of the party, not just the photographer. People are going to be in the mood to celebrate and have a fun time. If you are standing in thee corner acting stiff and shooting some shots on the sly, people will freeze up in front of the camera, or try to avoid you all together. Try and get in on conversations and be part of the fun while you have your camera around your neck; this will make people feel comfortable around you and your camera. They will understand that you are around to document an epic night, and that you are not just there to catch them acting crazy on film.

  3. Remember to use your flash correctly in low light situations. Many college parties take place at night; especially if the party is outside, you will have less than ideal lighting conditions. Whenever possible, you want to use natural lighting for the most authentic party pictures, but if the light is simply too low, remember to stand back from your subjects when using your flash or they will appear washed out and clammy looking in the pictures.
