How to Join a Women's Motorcycle Club

If you are a female motorcycle rider, you may not want to go out riding with the guys all the time. There are numerous clubs that advocate womens' safety and fellowship through motorcycle riding. There is also specialized women's riding gear and a whole lifestyle that goes with it. Sounds like fun!

There are many different ways to join up with fellow women motorcycle enthusiasts. The Women's International Motorcycle Association has links to clubs in many countries around the world. There are advocacy groups as well, such as the Women's Motorcyclist Foundation that promote training and safety while enjoying the sport of motorcycling.

Women on Wheels is a large US national group that was formed in 1982 with the purpose to unite all women motorcycle enthusiasts. WOW currently has over 3500 members and continues to grow. There are members or chapters across the US, Canada, and several other countries.

Many clubs hold or participate in annual rallys and sponsor fund-raising rides that support women's causes.

There is a growing industry in specialized women's riding clothing, leathers and accessories. As more and more women get involved in the sport, they want clothing that is stylish, fits well, and provides protection from the wind and road. Joe Rocket, VavaVroom, DivaCustoms, and Girlgearapparel all have clothing and accessory lines customized for the woman rider.

Finally, there are websites that cover everything you need to know about riding, including recommended bikes for women, road trip stories, apparel, and riding tips. Women Riders Now, Her-Motorcycle, and Motorcycles and Women have extensive stories, tips and links to everything the woman motorcyclist needs to know.
