How to Find Free Cross Stitch Patterns for Download Online

Part of the appeal of cross stitch is that it's easy to learn the basic techniques, and getting started is fairly inexpensive, especially if you can get cross stitch patterns for free. They are often the most expensive element for this type of craft.  Cross stitch kits can run, on average $15-30 in your local craft or hobby store.  By downloading free cross stitch designs, you'll be able to have a great pattern library in no time.

Visit the Solaria Gallery. There are quite a few detailed designs here available in PDF format. Two of the designs that are outstanding: Venetian Girl with Mask, and the Four Seasons series.

Check out the selection of free patterns at Kreinik. Interesting designs that are free to download include the patterns for Black Magic butterfly (using Japan thread) and Angle of Autumn.

Visit the Rainbow Gallery, a website that has a large selection of free patterns. Here you can find some patriotic theme patterns such as Support Our Troops and Stars of Freedom. Both very nice.

And finally, take a few moments (or an hour or two) to check out the designs at Cross Stitch 4 Free. This is a great site for beginning-to-intermediate level cross stitchers.
