Have you ever tried to submit your article URL to Twitter, only to find that it exceeds the 140 character length at Twitter?

Some article URLS can be long. How do you shorten your article URLS?

The other day, I went to submit an article URL at Twitter, only to find that, once again, it exceeded the annoying 140 limit. What to do? I know there are other methods to shorten article URLs but . . . I stumbled onto something that can be done right at Twitter!

This trick takes mere seconds and will shorten an article URL while still pointing to the article. You stay on your Twitter page and submit your article URL all in one go.

Shortening Article Urls

  • Now, as can be seen, that was a long title and the article URL was far too long for Twitter. Sure enough, when I tried to submit it at Twitter, I went "into the red."

This is how it looked in the Twitter box:

Why Write for Chump Change? http://----/articles/138928_why_spend_hours_writing_longer_articles_fro_chump_change_three_sites_where_you_write_short_article_and_earn

I'd shortened the title hoping to cut down on the characters but to no avail.

How to Shorten An Article URL

This is what I did: I backspaced and eliminated the article description entirely, so that I was left with: Why Write for Chump Change?http://www.--------/138928.

I pressed Update and when it showed at Twitter, I clicked on the the red article link line--and it worked!

This is the easiest method I know of to shorten as article URL when submitting it to Twitter. You don't have to leave the Twitter page and use another application to accomplish this.

Try it and let me know how you make out. Shortening long article URLs has just gotten easier!

Hi Umi, Yes the automatic updates function is very handy. Shortening the URL can be done for other articles, as well. I recently had someone asking how to shorten a Bukisa article URL, so wrote this in response.

On your account page you can also enter your Twitter information and Bukisa would automatically update your Twitter. When you publish new articles or you left a comment, it will automatically show up in your Twitter account. No need to go to Twitter at all!
