Rain is gift of god for us

Rain is so much more than mere drops of water falling from the sky, more than precipitation. In some places it is a curse causing flooding and financial expense even death. However without the rain plants would wither and die leaving no food for animals or humans. Humanity would die without the water. In every drop of water there are millions of tiny organisms. In ancient religions and current Christian religions it is the water of life. Water washes away our sins and cleanses our souls. Beyond the scientific and theological reasons why we need water as caring loving beings we have an emotional need for rain.

As a child the power of a thunderstorm sometimes frightens us but I could always jump in bed between my parents and feel sheltered and secure knowing I would be safe. In the summer we would run and jump in the sun showers to cool off from a hot day playing with friends. When I was a child I spent many an afternoon sitting by a window with a journal in hand dreamily writing while waiting for the rain to stop.

Later when I got older rain became something very different. Rainy Sundays spent late in bed snuggled up to the one you love or running to shelter out of a storm are some of my fondest
