We see T.V every day. Many people spend a large amount of time everyday in watching movies, programs or their T.V shows. Sometimes we think how this wonderful device works. Television is made by joining different parts. In T.V many technologies are also involved. The following are the most important technologies and processes that are involved in construction of TV.

Audio source:  It is a necessary element of television. These services can be in form of stereo or digitally processed, mono processed with surround sound to be later played back.

Video source: The program or image is the video source. It can be news program, T.V show, movies or live feed. The video source is recorded by a camera.

Transmitter: Audio and video signals are transmitted by the help of transmitter. This is necessary device for broadcast. Audio and video both these signals are electrical in nature. These signals are transformed into radio waves.

TV Set: TV set is also known as a receiver. The radio waves are received by the receiver that is transmitted by transmitter. TV set is able to grab radio waves that are processed back to video and audio electric signals. Then these signals are played on our television set.

Display Device: TV set is also known as display device. It is also called monitor. Monitor displays a viewable image. This is done by converting electrical signals to a viewable image. There are three types of display devices. The most common display device is CRT that is cathode ray tube. These monitors’ works on cathode ray action. Another type is LCD that is Liquid Crystal Display. The third type is Plasma that uses gas charged display.

Sound Device: Speaker provides output to sound. Speakers are known as sound device. A good sound device is necessarily needed to output of the sound that is playing in the video or movie on TV. There are different types of sound devices now available in market. Now there are high quality speakers that are built to reproduce better sound. Now surround sound speakers are also available. These types of speakers are used to send audio signals located around our room.

How to Receive TV signals: There are three ways to receive TV signals. These are as follow:

1. Cable TV

2. Broadcast TV

3. Satellite TV

1. Cable Television: This way is commonly used now these days. In this system the signals are transmitted through cables directly to our home. This is similar to phone line services. Many types of cables are used to transmit signals that are including fiber or copper optic cables. The signals are sent in the encoded as well as in compressed forms to our homes.

Broadcast TV: These signals are transmitted from a terrestrial source. This is done by using transmission tower. These signals are free to everyone. This technique uses three bands very low frequencies, very high frequencies (VHF) and ultra high frequencies (UHF). The main reason for using these bands is the different range of frequencies of video and audio signals. These signals are transmitted through radio waves. Radio waves have ability to penetrate structures like building exteriors and walls etc.

Satellite Television: This is the latest technology. This technique uses a different transmission technology. The signals are directly transmitted from satellites to ground connection of the satellite TV. These signals are transmitted in digital and compressed and encoded. Special antennas are required to pointing in specific directions.
