Oracles and sacrifices played a great role in ancient Greece. These are referred not only in the mythology but also in the real lives of ancient Greece. Though these are the terms used in Greek mythology, in fact these are present in all mythologies or civilizations across the world.

There was no need for Oracles and sacrifices in human lives. As per the beliefs of ancient Greeks, there is a time called as Golden Age. During this age, men lived happily. There was no need to work and spring had never ended. Everything was easy to do. But the men soon became lazy and greedy. They started fighting with each other.

The gods were angry and disgusted at this. They have created the first women Pandora as punishment to the men. Pandora as per Greek Mythology was the cause for all evil in human life thereafter.

Now after the Golden age, a new age named Bronze Age had started. In this age is where a lot of the stories in Greek Mythology were portrayed. This age involved great Greek heroes performing great feats. They were helped by gods in defeating their enemies.

Later it is the Iron Age that the ancient Greeks thought of as their time. In this age, the gods were again angry with them and abandoned them. To please the gods to help them with their lives and tasks, the Greeks had to do prayers and sacrifices. This is how sacrifices were explained.

The Greeks also believed in Oracles. The Oracles are the people who are said to have direct contact with gods. They can communicate with gods or foretell the future. This helped Greeks do their tasks easily.

The Oracle as a character in the film The Matrix plays the same role for the humans in its own mythology. The Greeks consult the Oracles to know the will of gods before undertaking any important action or decisions. It is slightly different in the movie The Matrix.

These are not just in Greek mythology but in religions or mythologies across the world we can find the importance of Oracles and sacrifices in the human lives.
