It is important to conquer your fear of germs because whether you like it or not, you are bound to come into contact with some of them in the course of a normal day. The trick is to take several easy steps to minimize your contact with germs and realize that you are doing all you can do to avoid becoming sick. If you turn these steps into habit, you will almost certainly increase your overall health.

Instructions

  1. Keep your hands away from your mouth and nose throughout the day since this is the way that most germs gain entry to your body. If you need to touch your mouth or nose, make sure that you have thoroughly cleaned your hands first.

  2. Clean your hands after touching surfaces in public places. Doorknobs, railings, and computer keyboards are all surfaces that many people touch throughout the course of a day; this means that all of these surfaces easily transmit germs from one person's hands to another person. After touching these surfaces, you should wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water, or disinfect them with a hand cleanser such as Purell.

  3. Move away from people who appear to be sick and coughing. Some germs can be spread by the particles that are expelled in a cough. So if you find yourself in close proximity to or in a closed space with someone who is coughing, you should find a way to politely remove yourself from the situation.

Tips & Warnings

  • It is a good idea to keep a bottle of hand sanitizer with you so that you can kill the germs on your hands even when you are away from soap and water.
