Recycling Emotions: Frustration to Inspiration

How to recycle negative emotions into positive energy.

Recycling is an interesting phenomenon. Absolutely useless materials can amazingly be converted to very useful products. But recycling is not limited to physical entities alone and can be used equally effectively to emotions. Negative and discouraging emotions can be converted to positive and creative ones. Let us see how.

Frustration hits us all. And the pangs are unforgiving when we have failed at something. The pain the mind goes through at having failed at something which was so nearly achieved can many a times cause one to lose mental stability. And like everything else, we look for that easy way out. We look to ease the pain temporarily and end up with drugs and alcohol only to exacerbate the effects of frustration. But there is a way out which is easy and free - Recycling.

Recycling emotions can change lives. The entire process can be achieved in three easy steps:

Know what has to be recycled.
Separate the recyclable emotion from the rest of the emotions. Know what is causing the pain. Know that frustration is only a byproduct of failure. Determine from where this failure has come from; is it love? Or is it failure to complete a task? Is it financial? Emotions often tend to mix and due to this, frustration seems to be coming from all sides. Isolate the exact cause and you will have a clearer picture of exactly what needs to be picked.

Start the process of change.

This is the most difficult part of the entire process. Start by putting your frustration to good use. Instead of feeling bogged down by that sinking feeling, use it to feel angry. Now process the anger to make you work harder. If you have failed at an assignment, you will be able to do much better if you work with a vengeance. Stop fretting and get angry. If you will be engrossed in your recycling effort you will not have much time to turn to drugs. The catch here is to have the will power to hold on. And only anger can help you do that.

Test the final product.
Once you have isolated and converted your frustration to creative energy comes the phase of putting it to good use. This is the part where you have to decide your goal; the event which you want to bring about with your newly achieved energy. Ideally this would be the very thing at which you have failed or something very similar. The catch here is to move forward. Think about what had gone wrong the first time and work on rectifying your mistakes. Since you have by now cleared your mind of the garbage of frustration, bring in clearer thoughts and clearly defined goals.

Even tough the process looks simple enough it might take years to complete it. It is very easy to burn out emotions the way garbage is burnt sometimes but then it is a temporary solution and only ruins the situation more. Like they say "recycling is the future!".
