Despite the big neon sign that seems to say "stop here if hungry" sometimes it is easy to miss while driving in the busy streets of Westheimer

The Houston location of Mama's Café is located at 6019 Westheimer Road, and the hours of operation are Monday through Wednesday 6:30 A.M to 2:00 A.M, Thursday and Friday from 6:30 A.M to 4:00 A.M, Saturday from 8:00 A.M to 4:00 A.M and Sunday from 8:00 A.M to 2:00 A.M.

Despite the big neon sign that seems to say "stop here if hungry" sometimes it is easy to miss while driving in the busy streets of Westheimer, but it is worth to stop inside. The restaurant, once you step inside seems to be one of those diners that you see people stopping at the movies but bigger, and the great thing is that is open late.

For breakfast you can start out with a country skillet which is a portion of Mama's hand breaded chicken fried steak with whole kernel corn, onions and southern style gravy, or you can have the Huevos Hofbrau which are Mama's Café's migas which includes two scrambled eggs with fresh chilies, pico de gallo, onions and crushed tortilla chips, topped with homemade chile con queso.

While for their daily menu you can order for starters the Mama's world famous golden fried mushrooms which are mushrooms dipped in a homemade beer batter, seasoned flour, and lightly deep-fried and served with southern cream gravy or ranch dressing, or you can try the Botanas which are chunks of grilled sirloin or chicken breast nestled in a bed of crispy tortilla chips, then covered with a blanket of homemade chile con queso.

For their entrées you can have some of the Mama's favorite section such as a chicken fried steak which is a large and tender boneless breast of chicken is beer-battered, deep fried to a crispy golden brown and served with southern cream gravy, or two 5- inch pork chops, or grilled baby back ribs which is a full rack, basted with honey BBQ sauce. And for the Mama's classic you can order the famous liver and onions which is an old-fashioned tender beef liver smothered with grilled onions and served with red-skinned mashed potatoes.
