Ability to save money is one way to become rich. There are countless ways to save money without depriving yourself the enjoyment of living. This article will discuss five very easy ways to save money.

This article will discuss five very easy ways to save money.

The first way to save money is to stop buying things from the vending machines.

A can of soft drink from the vending machine may cost 20% to 50% more than supermarket.

If you purchase a can of soft drink from the vending machines in popular tourist attractions, you are paying double the price than the can of soft drink sold in supermarket.

So folks, stop buying from the vending machines. If you want to go anywhere, make sure you have a bottle of water in your haversack. If you are going to popular tourist attractions, please buy from the supermarket and bring the drinks and snacks there.

The second way to save money is to buy in bulk. If you are going to buy the isotonic drinks for your hiking trips, please buy in bulk. You may not need so many cans of drinks for the coming trip.  You can keep the rest of the canned drinks in the kitchen for your future trips.

After all, isotonic drinks have a longer shelf life and you are unlikely to exceed the expiry date.

When buying in bulk, ensure that the items are non-perishable. Ensure also that the items have a long shelf life. There is no point buying fresh produces in bulk since you are unlikely to finish all the fresh produces within the next few days.

The only way you can save money is by sharing the costs of purchase with your neighbors. And that is provided that your neighbors share the same taste as you. No point buying cartons of tomatoes, just to find that your neighbors hate tomatoes.

The third way to save money is to use energy saving light bulbs, and cut down on the number of light bulbs in the house. Certain areas in the house do not need a lot of light. A single light bulb will do. If you are not reading or studying in your bedroom, do you have to fix more than one light bulb?

If you are able to reduce the number of light bulbs, and have changed all to energy saving bulbs, you will notice a reduction in the electricity bill at the end of the month.

If you want to cut down the cost of electricity even further, please sleep early. Instead of sleeping at your usual 11 Pm, you can choose to go to bed at 9:30 Pm. The savings in electricity is substantial. You will save on one and a half hour of lighting up the house every day. You will save on the electricity for watching one and a half hour of TV. The benefit of having enough sleep is also reflected in lower medical bill.

The fourth way to save money is to use natural light. Let the sunlight comes in during the day. You can make use of the street lighting to light up your house during the night.

You may think that the privacy of your home is invaded if you are not protected by the thick curtains. But, who is going to invade your privacy? Do you think your neighbors are so free that they want to watch you every single minute? Your neighbors may be more interested in watching the soap opera than watching you.

The last way to save money is to open the windows during the summer months. Let the breeze comes through. It will reduce the need for the air conditioner. If the night is warm, you may choose to switch on the fan rather than the air conditioner.

Even if the night is hot when you go to bed, it will get cooler as the night deepens.

Opening the window will let the cooler breeze flows in, and you are able to switch off the fan once the night gets cooler.

All the five ways to save money are simple and practical. You may think that the money saved is not much per day or per month.  However, when you add up the savings in a year, it can be a very substantial amount.

Once the habit is formed, you are able to save for the next ten years, twenty years, thirty and more years. The accumulated savings for all those years is very substantial.

I have gotten into the habit of sleeping with the windows open… the night sounds soothe you to sleep and I seldom use the air conditioner any longer.

All great money-saving tips!  I always keep a pop bottle partly filled with water in the freezer, so I can finish filling it and take it along when I go out.  Cold water beats soda for quenching a thirst, anyway!
