A healthy alternative to deep fried french fries. A simple and healthy recipe.

Have a bunch of potatoes lying around? Don't know what to do with them? Here's a quick and easy  recipe and healthy too.

What You'll Need:

  • Potatoes (though Russet potatoes work best)
  • Cooking Spray
  • Cookie Sheet
  • Cutting Board
  • Knife
  • Seasonings (According to taste)

Step 1: Pick out some potatoes free of spots and sprouting.  Though any potato will work, I've found that Russet potatoes taste the best. Scrub the potatoes thoroughly (this is very important because you will be leaving the skin on). Dry with paper towel.

Step 2: Place one thoroughly cleaned potato onto the cutting board. Cut the potato in half lengthwise. Lay both halves down so that the flat parts are on the bottom. Cut each potato half into slices between 1/4 and 1/2 inch.

Step 3: Preheat the oven to 400 degrees. Using your cooking spray, spray enough onto the cookies sheet to cover it. this is very important, if there isn't enough, the fries will stick to the sheet.  Also, it has to be cooking spray, butter and margarine will not work for this.

Step 4: Lay the fries onto cookie sheet in a single layer. At this point you can add the seasonings or you can wait until after the fries have baked. Bake for 10 minutes. Take out the sheet, flip the fries over and bake for another 8 minutes. Season to taste.  Enjoy!

Warnings:

Don't cut your fries too thin.

It has to be cooking spray (no butter or margarine)
