The Dyson DC14 Vacuum is just what I need in a house with a St. Bernard and Newfoundland. My babies shed like crazy and if wasn't for my Dyson DC14, I would be up to my neck in dog fur tumbleweeds.

The Dyson DC14 vacuum is a wonderful machine indeed.  My two very large dogs shed excessively and this powerful  machine, as Mr. Dyson reports in the television commercial, "never loses suction."  I find that the Don DC14 is the best vacuum for picking up pet hair.  It also is powerful enough to suck up dog hair from my microfiber sofa.  This vacuum cleaner is not self propelled, however, it is still very easy to maneuver.  Since my 160 pound baby of a Saint Bernard is terrified of loud noises, including vacuum cleaners, I am delighted to report that my Dyson DC14 is not as loud as other vacuums had in the past.  The canister lifts up smoothly for easy cleaning.  The long telescopic handle and hose allows me to reach into ceiling corners and vacuum stairs effortlessly.

The only slightly negative aspect of the Dyson DC14 that I can report is that the beater brush as it's called, (aka roller brush) gets embedded with dog hair.  I find it challenging to dismantle the apparatus, remove the beater brush to clean it and then replace it under the belt again.  If you don't replace the beater brush en pointe, it will make a very loud grinding noise to alert you of your faux pas.  Other than that slight inconvenience, the Dyson DC14 is the hardest working, most powerful vacuum cleaner I've ever used.  I recommend it highly to anyone who has pets or otherwise.  The Dyson DC14 is not cheap at $499.00 but in my opinion, since it never loses suction, it will be well worth the price.
