Problem is an obstacle which makes it difficult to achieve a desired goal. Every one of us faces problems in our daily lives. Every one of us faces problems in our daily lives. Some times  it might be simple whereas  the other times it could be serious. If it is not dealt with, or not resolved in time, they may lead to very difficult situations. A person who finds a solution to the problems will be successful, where as the person who sees it like some thing which can not be solved fails in his life. Successful person sees it as a challenge and tackles it in a systematic way.  We can find out a solution or workaround to resolve any issues. There is no glitch which can not be fixed. If a person has a will, he or she resolves whatever come in life. We may come across various tight spot depending on the situations; in our personal lives, families, business, and at work places. For instance, a mathematics question is given to student to find the solution. Resolving the internal team conflicts is the challenge of a team leader.

The ubiquity of snag in our lives and the limited amount of time that always seems to be allocated to education and learning leads me to argue two things. First, telling students what we know about the world and quizzing their recall of what we told them is not only an insult to our learners (we should expect more of them); that pedagogy also retards their epistemological development, preventing them from developing the knowledge-seeking skills they need (Jonassen, Marra, and Palmer, 2004. Let us define the term “problem. “

  • A problem is an issue or obstacle which makes it difficult to achieve a desired goal, objective or purpose. It refers to a situation, condition, or issue that is yet unresolved. In a broad sense, a problem exists when an individual becomes aware of a significant difference between what actually is and what is desired. ("Problem." Wikipedia, The Free Encyclopedia. 24 May 2009, 16:53 UTC. 26 May 2009 <http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Problem&oldid=292039714>.)
  • A difficulty that has to be resolved or dealt with; a question to be answered; schoolwork exercise; a puzzling circumstance. (“Problem.”  Wictionary, a wiki-based Open Content Dictionary. 6 May 2009,  6:30. 26 May 2009 .)

My method of resolving a specific problem is to find the root cause. The root cause analysis is the main technique that leads to the resolution of any problem. Once you see that there is a problem, try to identify what is the main reason or cause of the problem; what are the factors effecting the predefined goal or the regular actions. It is like playing a video game with a joystick in our hand. Once we have the required tool in our hands, we can play the game we like and the way we want it. In the same way, once we find the main cause of the problem, we can go ahead in avoiding or removing the obstacles, so that the problem can be resolved. The moment you have the reason or cause of the problem, define your plan of action. It also helps in avoiding the cause which leads to the specific problem which results in success. Solving problem is not a big challenge. The main point is in finding the root cause which helps in avoiding the problem from occurring again.

Here is one of the problems which I dealt with and resolved it successfully. I work as a faculty in one of the institute, teaching computer hardware course. One of the parents complained me that their son is not showing any interest in his academic studies even after repeated requests. He does not attend his classes regularly. They had also punished him harshly many times, in order to force him to score better grades in his education.  However, he attend he computer hardware course regularly and with sincerity. He  is one of my favorite students who had secured the top three positions in the entire institute. Then I spoke to him personally and found that he is very much interested in his academic studies as he does attend the computer hardware classes. The reason behind his absenteeism-one of his senior classmates was threatening him from attending the classes. That person thought this child may score better grades than his senior. After finding this reason, I requested the parents to meet the principal of the school and also the senior student’s father who was stopping their child from attending the classes regularly. Once the principal had counseled the senior student, he stopped harassing this person and the main problem of the parents is resolved. We found the cause and worked on it to resolve the problem and meet the parents and the student’s goal.

Resolving a problem is an art, science and management technique at the same time depending on situation to situation. One strategy may not work everywhere else. In any of the issues, identify your own role in re-creating this problem. Everyone has had a role in it, and identifying it might solve the problem forever.

Thus, problems can be solved easily and we can avoid further difficulties by doing root cause analysis of the problem. There are multiple approaches in resolving a problem. It requires open mindedness to analyze the situation and work on it.
