How To Make $50 an Hour as a Tutor
This is an article on how to make $50 an hour as a tutor.
Tutoring is a great part-time or full-time business venture. Many tutors are also full-time teachers. This is an article on how to make $50 an hour as a tutor.
Step 1) BRUSH UP ON THE SUBJECTS YOU ARE GOING TO TEACH--If you are currently a teacher, this is easy because you teach it everyday--if you are a grad student or former professor, this is not so easy. Take the time to go to the libary, your local bookstore, etc. and refamiliarize yourself with the subjects you will be teaching.
Step 2) MARKET YOURSELF PROFESSIONALLY. Take your time in writing down your credentials and pull a professional brochure together. Once you've got your brochure together, call school counselors, teachers, and headmasters and set up a meeting to talk about your tutoring expertise. Tell them what differentiates you from your competition.
Step 3) SET GOALS/MAKE STRATEGIES FOR YOUR STUDENTS. When you get a new student, the first tutoring session you need to set a goal for the tutoring and map out a strategy to achieve that goal. Most tutors just go in and do their job but are not accountable to improvement--this is why most tutors are not very good. Setting a goal and mapping out a strategy with your students will definitely differentiate you from the competition and warrant your charging $50 plus an hour for tutoring. Remember: Upper level math, science, and the ACT/SAT are among the highest desired and most profitable tutoring so include them in what you teach.
