The Joy of Memories...

Some thoughts and a poem - on how reconnecting with our happy memories can enhance our being and bring lasting benefits to many aspects of our lives and relationships.

Think of a special moment from your past, your first moment alone with your new baby; when you brought your dog home as a puppy; when your partner first told you they loved you; a special place ... some precious moment that maybe you have not thought about for a while. Hold that memory for a minute or two..............how do you feel? Do you feel uplifted, relaxed, happy, full of joy? I bet you have a smile on your face. You will find that this feeling will stay with you for a time as you go about whatever you do next.

Make a little time in the morning ... a few moments while in the shower, over breakfast, on the bus ... to explore a past happy event. If you explore the same event on a number of days, you will have the added bonus of remembering more details about the event as your memory reaches for more recollections  - you can  double your happiness. Revisit the memory fleetingly as you go about your work or chores - that joyous happiness will return instantly. Perhaps link your remembering to frequent events during your day, ie making cups of coffee or tea, looking at your watch, any thing you do often - it only takes fleeting moment to uplift your heart.

Add to the happiness of friends and family by recalling shared memories, or thank them for nice things they have done for you in the past - it will increase both their happiness and yours.

Time Shadows

As mist time moves

Shrouding a minute

Hiding an hour

Obscuring a decade

Time past may be clearer

Than moments at hand

Clouds part

... to reveal

Some special event

... long gone

Etched bright in the web

A fragment of time

... poignant

... clarity

Opaque tomorrows

Hours upon days

... march forward

Endless haze

Scattered with joys

Studded with sorrows

A fragment to stare

... clear crystal time

Makest thy memories

... myriad moments

Particles of light

For future clouds parting

Cloud cast images

... may emerge rainbow tinged
