Why it's important to keep your advertising simple

It is very much possible to be tempted to have a prominent and flashy kind of advertisement for your business or services.

It is very much possible to be tempted to have a prominent and flashy kind of advertisement for your business or services. But the truth of the matter is that the flashy and bright advertisements do not always guarantee success.

So what does?

Only an advertisement that gives a message meeting with the desires, values and needs of the people who are your target audience or customers is the one that will succeed. If there are many businesses like yours, you will have to offer them something that is not offered by others in the same field. You will have to emphasize that aspect of your business in your advertisement that will bring your customer to you.

If you just make your offer through words and not through flashy colors and styles and still it sells your business, it simply proves that people go for services and not for the flashiness of your advertisement. Moreover, a very confusing but creative advertisement can win awards in different shows but it might not necessarily sell your product which is actually the target of your advertisement.

Offering freebies to customers through your advertisement will win you customers. For example a free trial workout at a health club for those who are your target audience for your health drinks etc will surely attract perspective customers. Free samples and coupons never fail in attracting people. Such offers might seem to be taking a lot of your investments and you might seem to be losing money. However, if people get attracted to your services or products after trying these freebies, the sacrifice is worth making.

Do remember to get into the detail of your advertisement. Detail is important if you want to make profits. The idea is to give enough information to the target audience so that they feel motivated to try out your service or product. People read what interests them, so even a long or detailed advertisement will also serve purpose if it is required to be long.

The conclusion of the advertisement must contain your address and phone number so that the people whom you targeted can contact you and buy/hire your products/services. People remember the first and the last lines, this should be the last and therefore it needs to be hammered in people’s minds.

While designing a good advertisement you must target at four things – arrest attention, creating of interest, promotion of people’s desire, and the last to elicit action from people in the form of buying from you.

And this is not the end. If the advertisement is really a success, they will result in good generation of business. Do not be content with the business that you get with them, you must go on updating your advertisements and popularization strategies for the business you run. Most important is the care of your customers. Talk to them, take their feedback, and ask them how they reached you. If they reached you through and advertisement, ask them what was it in the ad that brought them to your business. This feedback will help you a lot in designing future advertisements.

This success does not necessarily happen due to flashy advertisements. Moreover, a flashy advertisement is not necessarily an attractive one. Colorful advertisement must be backed up by genuine offers and good services.

The real secret to successful business is to go on testing your own offers one after the other. A good advertisement would let you to what extent are people are interested towards your product through it.
