Don't throw out dirty coffee pots! Here's How to Clean a Coffee Pot.

Don't throw out those scaled over, dirty looking coffee pots.  No need to add them to the landfill heap.  Here's a few very easy, inexpensive ways to clean up those glass carafes.

One:  Pour ordinary table salt into an empty glass coffee pot.  One tablespoon is sifficient.

Two:  Add a few ice cubes and enough water to make a heavy paste.

Three:  Swirl the contents around and around.  The salt will help keep the coffee pot clean.  This trick works best BEFORE the coffee pot becomes extremely dirty looking.  You know what I mean by dirty looking, right?  Coffee stains and lime scale buildup from hard water.

If your coffee pot is already in the condition as just described, well, it's time to get serious with the cleaning.  Now, I have trield CLR in the past, but really, it didn't do anything to help my glass coffee pot look any better.  And it's not cheap, either.

Luckily, I found an inexpensive solution to help me keep my glass coffee carafe looking like new.

Enter..."Bar Keepers Friend".  This is a product in a container like "Comet" or "Ajax".  I found mine locally at a Dollar General store.  It only a dollar!

Sprinkle about a teaspoon into the pot, make a paste with water and scrub with a paper towel or old dish rag.  You won't have to scrub hard - this stuff is an awesome cleaning product.

"Bar Keepers Friend" has a lot of uses around the home, too.  For instance, it cannot be beaten when it comes to getting baked on, dried on, blackened foods off of ceramic or glass cooktops on many modern appliances.
