How To Know If Your Computer Is Infected With A Virus.

Recent scams involves convincing computers owners that they have a virius or many harmful programs on their computer and they need a special program to remove.

You are surfing alone and suddenly your screen flashes, the next  thing you know you receive a warning that you have been infected with multiple trogans and your computer is at risk.

You are doing your regular MySpace check of friends and family and a request to scan your computer appears becasue you have been infected with a  virus.

These are common tricks that have been going around on the Internet for the past couple of months, netting some pretty nice payday for some companies. These drive-by attcks seek to get you to purchase a program that will clean these newly reveled threats for a mere $49.00. But wait, you already have virus protection, why didn't your virus protection find these infection? Becasue in most case they are not real. These fake products goes by some very offical sounding names and are easy to mistake for real application.

So how can you determine if you really have a virus infection.

  • First you should have some type of antivirus software already installed - in most cases the products will disable ort make it very difficult to add antivirus software once they have gotton control of your computer.
  • If you are prompted to go to a certain site to purchase the software to download and fix the problem - from another machine. Do a search on the exact name of the software. In most cases you will find plenty of people suffering from the same issue and will gladly identify the software as a scam.

Understand that you do not have a virus, you are infecte with hwhat is termed as MalWare, most Antivirus software will not detect these types of programs.You will need to locate a valid malware removal program.

It is best to contact someone with experience removing these types of applications as they are becoming more prevalent and more difficult to remove.

  • do not purchase the recommend application - this will only encourge them
  • Seek out and purchase effective anti-malware/spyware application ahead of time.
  • Surf with lowered admin rights to prevent installations of many of the drive-by applications.
  • Investigate SandBox surfing to prevent unautorized installations of Internet applications.
