MyLot New Users Guide. Tips, Do's and Dont's and how to set up things.

First things to know about MyLot:
This site will not get you rich overnight. Yes it pays once you reach the $10 minimum but you usually make only a penny per post sometimes less.
You are NOT allowed to post referral and affiliate links in discussions. Doing so will get the comment removed, and if done enough, your account banned! You are encouraged to post links of a non-profit manner though. So if you referenced something else to answer someone's question, give the site credit with a link.
You can not copy/paste on the site until you reach 500 posts.(Even after being able to, make sure not to Plagiarize, It can get your account banned is frowned upon where ever you go online, so don't get in that habit)
Remember that while it is a Paid to Post site, the knowledge gained and shared through this site, along with the referrals you can get by far earn you more then this site ever will.
Posting one sentence is never enough, always try to post no less then 3 sentences. Multiple paragraphs is a sure way to increase your earnings.
Proper Spelling and grammar go a long ways.

Tip: If English is a second language people can understand you and will overlook your mistakes, So don't worry about it to much. A Nice thing to do is put that English is not your native language somewhere easy to read on your profile to let others know the fact.
Fact: You MUST post in English, if you do not your post will be deleted.
Fact: The system to figure out how much you earn is NOT public and no one can tell you 100% what it is. But if you read on you will find many things I've found as a user for over two years to produce results.

Things you should always do to increase your earnings and the quality of the site:
Customize your profile. More on that in a minute.
Join all the larger interest groups to give you more options to talk about. More on that later.
When you start a discussion, always respond to people in the discussion by clicking add comment underneath their post then replying to what they said. This will gain you more money, in several ways. The discussion will become larger, your post count will become higher, people will be interested in commenting on your other discussions and you will gain more friends. More friends gives you more readers of your future topics.
Make sure to give "+" "-" and best responses when possible. If someone answers your question(s) to a topic you started, give them a best response, don't just say ty and move on. If they contribute to your discussion go ahead and give them a "+" rating. If you see someone just spamming or posting referral links click the "!" (exclamation mark) click it and report abuse. But most comments will be neutral, so don't go around rating everything.
Giving ratings and receiving ratings and best responses affects your Star Ranking which is received once you reach 100 posts. A persons Star Ranking is a direct result of ratings that person has given and received and directly affects how much you earn. If you hover over a star you can see their ranking out of 100, with 100 being the best. Most quality users have a ranking in the 65-85 range.
Fact: MyLot does not allow advertising in ANY form at all in discussions.
All discussions promoting earning ventures including but not limited to:
- referral exchanges
- "I got paid by xxx site"
- "I found xxx site - check my profile"
will ALL be deleted and the user will earn nothing. They may get posted and stay there for a short time, best rest assured they will get deleted and your earnings from them will disappear.

The Personal Messages (AKA PMs):
Is the great way to chat with other users on a more private level, you do NOT gain posts counts or money for doing them. But you can post links their and talk with people about referral swaps and such, anything goes here. But if you spam all your friends, you are likely to lose many of them.
Tip: When someone sends you a friend request, accept it and send them a message, asking if they needed anything or had questions about any of the sites you promote. Be willing to help anyone needing it will help you gain more referrals.

Your Profile:
Fact: People will look at your profile! Taking 30 minutes to set it up is well worth it for referrals and credibility.
Tip: Take a look at this profile for a good example of well layed out version that get's me many referrals.
Having a clean looking and informative profile is a GREAT way to gain friends and get referrals in sites that you promote. Having just a bunch of banners will not work very well for getting you referrals. Take the extra few minutes and give the details of the site (like min payout, who can join etc), if you have a blog entry that gives more details, link to that.

How To Edit your MYlot Profile with banners and links:
Fact: For banners and links you will need to be a little familiar with HTML, but not an expert. It's easy to use the basic functions. For banners it's simply copy/paste the code the site gives you.

1. Go to your profile, click "edit profile" underneath your Avatar picture.
2. Very top right click "add content" a box will open up.
3. Click the circle(it will turn green) "HTML" then "add item".
4. Now scroll down to the bottom of your profile, on the right hand side you will see an "HTML sortie"
5. There is a box to type in whatever you want, simple copy/paste any banner code you want there, and click save changes at the top right of the HTML sortie.

Tip: You can Drag and drop any sortie on your profile.
Tip: Place your HTML sorties at the top of your profile, so people don't scroll to find out which sites you promote.
Tip: You can change the sortie back round color of each sorties by clicking the "back round color" box underneath where you type.
Fact: You can have as many HTML sorties as you want, but will need to click on "view profile" after each one, the repeat the steps above to add a new one.

Tip: For links you will need to use this code.

Tip: After entering any banner code or link type in br> (just add the < at the front of the br ). This is HTML code for "line break" which tells the web page to start anything typed after that code to start on the next line.You can use the code Multiple times to add line spaces.
Tip: Upload an Avatar Picture, by doing so you will make yourself stand out more and it shows you are more likely to be around for a while and worth getting to know.(click on preferences tab top left of any page on MyLot then customize your profile, and upload avatar picture will be first option.

Interest groups to join:
There are literally thousands of interest groups, but only about 100-ish are really active.
I'm assuming you are on MyLot because you want to earn money, and talk about ways to earn more money. So here is Groups related to money. I recommending joining them all.
If your logged into MyLot clicking the name will take you to that interest group, option to join will be on the right side.
Fact: Many of them are named the same or very close, but they are different.
