How To Make Bubble Blowing Solutions

You can whip up some bubble blowing solution fast with these recipes. All you need is water, dish detergent and glycerin. Glycerin is available at discount stores and drug stores. You can make colored bubbles with food coloring.

You buy bubble blowing solution and bubble blowers in different shapes and sizes. You buy the bubble blowing solution again. You have so many different bubble blowers, bubble wands and plastic containers without the bubble blowing solution. Why not make your own? It is easy to make your own bubble blowing solution and it will save you money.

You probably have the basic ingredients for bubble blowing solution in your house. Glycerin, which makes the bubbles iridescent, is available at your local discount or drugstore. You can also make your own bubble wands from plastic coated wire. Cut the wire and shape one end into a circle leaving an inch to attach it with and then twist that around the wand. You can also use plastic bubble wands you’ve saved and Easter egg holders. You can also shape clothes hangers into bubble blowers.

Basic Bubble Solution Recipe

4 Cups water

6 Tablespoons glycerin

1 Cup dish detergent

Add the glycerin and dish detergent to the water. Stir the solution until it is well mixed.

You can add food coloring to make colored bubbles but be careful the food color may stain clothing or furniture. You can use the basic Bubble Solution Recipe above adding food coloring until the solution is the color you like. You can also make this Colored Bubble Solution with warm water and detergent flakes.

Colored Bubble Solution

1 Quart warm water

1 Cup soap powder

Liquid food coloring

Add the soap powder to the warm water. Stir the solution and let the soap dissolve in the warm water. Add the food coloring and stir the solution until it is the color you want. Pour the solution into containers for bubble blowing solution.

If you’re making bubble solution for a larger group, try this recipe for larger quantities of bubble solution.

Larger Quantities Of Bubble Solution

12 Ounces dish detergent

1 Gallon of water

3 - 6 Tablespoons glycerin

You can also add more dish detergent or commercial bubble blowing solution to your bubble solution. You could also make bubble blowing solution with liquid hand soap that has glycerin in it. It is better to start with the water in a bowl or other container and then add the soap and stir the mixture.

The bubble blowing solutions work better the day after they are made. So if you’re making bubble blowing solutions for parties or groups make the solutions the day before you need them. You can add more dish detergent if the bubbles pop too soon, to make bigger bubbles or if the solution seems too watery.
