You all must have heard the name of Henry Ford the founder of the famous automotive industry “FORD”. He established this company in 1903. Total investment he took from the investors was $28000 and two of its most prominent investors were Horace and John Dodge who later formed their own company with the name of “Dodge Brothers Motor Vehicle Company”. Henry was at the age of 40 when he formed this company. This company soon became the largest automotive company of the world and is the only company which has been managed by a family over the period of 100 years. Its vehicles are sold all over the world and currently this company stands as the fourth largest automobile company of the world.

It only produced few of its earliest models in Michigan. All the new models were specified as the Model A to Model T. The first produced model was Model A and that was way back in 1903. Later Model S was produced in 1907. In start all of the vehicles produced were in black color and the final right hand drive model was Model S. Model K was its first ever 6-cylinder model and at that time it gained popularity under the name of “The Silent Cyclone” and “the Gentleman’s Roadster”. At that time this model got sold at US$ 2800. Ford’s first model for public was the Model T which was widely accepted by the customers. The demand of this vehicle increased day by day and as a result the company’s operations were shifted to Highland Park Plant. Their target was to produce more than million vehicles per year.

Every year they came up with an innovative model and this resulted in hiring of many new employees in 1920. New employees needed training which resulted in increasing the cost and delayed the production. The company was the first one who realized the importance of the employees and made several policies that encouraged their employees. Some of the policies were increasing the wages, working 8 hours for 5 days per week. The Ford came up with new recruiting methods and also hired physically disabled persons who deserved to be. The company also faced criticism by Wall Street Journal regarding its labor practices.

In 1904, Ford first thought of expanding its operations internationally and started operating in Canada. Their operation started all over the world in 1911. Few of the countries in which they entered were England, Germany, Australia, France etc. The reason for the Ford’s increased popularity was his support in the peace mission to calm the WW1. Allied military forces used Model T made by the Ford Company. They didn’t have any formal trademark until 1928 when the first trademark was introduced in oval shape. Model A has the honor to be first vehicle to carry this mark.

This company has made its mark in this field. It is this company that resulted in the introduction of innovative cars that we see and use today. It is trying to attract the small manufacturers from different countries to expand its business further more.
