A step by step guide on how to boil eggs

How to Hard-Boil an egg!

First place your eggs in an empty pot.

Fill the pot with enough water to completely cover the eggs with an inch or so of water above them.
Use cold water to help make sure the eggs don't overheat!

Tip:  Add salt to the water until it is salty.  You can also add a half teaspoon of baking soda for every few cups of water.  These things will help firm up the egg whites, thus making the eggs easier to peel!

Now you need to wait for the water to begin boiling.  Use high heat.

As soon as the water is at a full boil, remove the pan from the heat and cover it!  Do NOT remove the lid, as this is keep the water temperature up by trapping the steam!

You want the temperature to stay near boiling point, just a bit below.

This is where timing gets crucial!  If you let the eggs cook too long, then the yolks turn green and start to smell weird.  If you don't wait long enough, then they are "sof boiled" eggs, not what we're shooting for here!

As soon as you remove the pan from the heat, you want to start a timer for ten to fifteen minutes!  It's important that you don't start the timer until that point, though, or you'll end up with one of the 2 undesirable results above!

Okay!  That's done!  Put the eggs under cold running water or into some icy water!  Leave them there until they are totally cooled off!

To peel the eggs, make sure they are completely cooled off, then while holding them under running water, start to pull off the shell (you may need to whack it against something first, but not oo hard!).

That's it!  you're all ready now to make your deviled eggs or egg-salad or garnish your veggie salads!  Simple!
