Easy to follow tips to budget and save big money!

Who would not be willing to follow hints that can save $50 plus every month?  Some will be familiar and if followed will be such a money saver, you will be able to see the money in your pocket soon. Other suggestions will need some getting used to and will show up on lower bills that come in each month. At any rate, if consistantly followed, these guides will provide you with more than $50 a month for you to spend where ever you wish.

The ideas are proven to give you back at least $50 a month. I have used these for years and know my parents saved with some of these suggestions many years ago also.

1.  Grocery shop once a week. Make out menus, following the ingredients to buy only what you need. Do not run to the store for 1 or 2 items. This might take a few weeks to implement, but when it gets to be natural for you,the money will be jingling in your  pocket.

2.  When ever possible put clothes on drying racks and avoid the dryer. This act will put humidity in your air from the clothes being exposed to the room air. The dryer element is a very big user of electric or gas. Gas dryers are far more efficient, but  cost more to purchase. Another idea is to remove the clothes immediately after they are dry. The remainder of clothes in the dryer will have more space to fluff dry. Removing clothes as soon as they dry will also eliminate or diminish ironing. Irons use a moderate amount of energy.

3.  Switch from baths to showers.  A normal 10 minute shower takes less hot water than a bath 1/2 full. If you want to really conserve try:  running the water to get wet, lathering up with the water off and then putting the water back on to rinse. An adult can easily take a successful 10 minute shower.

4.  When a room is not occupied, turn off lights. This goes for garage, yard and all outside illuminations. Use the economical bulbs inside and outside for greater efficiency.

5.  Reduce your thermostat by 5 degrees. Do this for a month and use sweaters, sweatshirts and sweat pants. See the difference in your heat bill in 30 days.

6.  If you have individual vents in your home for heating, consider closing off the vents in the rooms not being used. This can be done when a room is not being used for 2 to 8 hours. This process will direct heat to the  living areas only. 1/2 hour before retiring, open the doors for some warmth to permeate those quarters.

7.  Call your cell phone company and check to see if there is a promotional plan you might have overlooked that can save you money each month. Check your plan now to see if you can drop any of your existing options that you do not use on your land line that can be eliminated.

8.  Electric companies have low kilowatt usage hours. Contact your gas and electric companies to determine when those hours are in your area.  Do the laundry, run the dishwasher and take showers during those times to save big.

9.  Do not use the drying cycle on the dishwasher. Either turn that off or manually open the door so that cycle is interrupted and not used. The element takes a lot of electric and eliminating it can put money into your pocket.
