If you can reduce stress you'll find life is much more enjoyable.

joy we experience in our lives. The ramifications of living a stress-filled existence are obvious and debilitating, and are manifested in poor health both physically and mentally. Relationships suffer, general attitude declines, and unchecked, stress can destroy what was once a productive and thriving life filled with promise. Irregardless of what the latest stress reduction guru pushing a book may advocate, coping strategies to reduce stress begin and end with how each individual views their personal situation, and their willingness to attempt a new course of action.

Obviously, if an individual has the feeling that stress is mounting and becoming unmanageable it is upon that person to get proactive in addressing the issue head-on. Too often, we tend to place more pressure upon ourselves that is optimum for good mental health, and in essence become our "own worst enemy". There is a requirement for self-analysis, and after which we may find that we, ourselves are in fact responsible for creating our own stress. After identifying the sources of our stress, it is then possible to chart a course of action to eliminate or diminish the harmful effects. It is important to be open to a change in lifestyle and habits and to keep a healthy attitude. After all, if the old way we handled issues was not working, a new and diverse redirection in thought may result in a number of positive revelations.

In order to reduce stress and improve our coping capabilities we must either stop the cause of the stress or change the manner in which we react to stress, or both. Whenever possible, avoid people or situations that have demonstrated themselves in the past to be stress creators. Remove the negative crutches may among us rely on to reduce stress, like alcohol, smoking, poor eating habits, and withdrawing from an active lifestyle. Instead, implement a healthy and positive course to reduce stress with the use of exercise, pleasant activities, or even simply playing with the family pet. Any of these activities and hundreds of others can provide a respite from the tensions of daily life and enable good general health by utilizing sound basic coping mechanisms.

Remember, stress and how it is handled is up to individual practices. If a person is able to gain the proper mindset and keep distressing issues in perspective management and relief are simplified.
