Actions to Take for a Better Future Society

Do you ever ask yourself, "Why am I here?" Are you familiar with the phrase that says, "The world is in your hands?" Think hard about these phrases for a moment. You are needed to do extraordinary things and contribute to making this planet a better place. This article explains the actions we can take to ensure a better future for society.

The first action we can take for a better future is to recycle. When you have the opportunity, dispose of glass, paper, plastic and aluminum into a recycling container instead of a trash can.

Let's reduce the pollution we create and the amount of energy we use. Let's drive less. The government needs to set high emission standards for autos. Auto manufacturers must create cars that are energy-efficient and environmentally friendly. Homes and businesses must have clean furnaces and gas systems. Let's turn off the lights and most of our appliances after we finish using them. A computer that has a flat monitor uses about a third of the amount of energy that a computer with a large monitor uses.

Have a say in what will happen for you and future generations at your polling place. Vote for the candidates you think will make a bigger impact for you and the rest of society.

A better future for society requires a lower deficit. We have a deficit of about a trillion dollars. We must stop spending ten billion dollars a month in Iraq and spend it here. We must resist our urge to buy whatever we want on a credit card at any moment and stop spending beyond our means.

We must invest in vocational training. High school students and young people should be encouraged and given the chance to enroll in classes that teach skilled trades such as construction, welding and plumbing. The value of a college degree is becoming obsolete because a college education only provides book knowledge and employers now demand that applicants have the direct experience for the job.

We must heavily fund crime prevention efforts. By creating youth facilities and programs and paying a little more to rehabilitate inmates while providing the training and guidance they need to get ahead, we can cut crime, reduce recidivism and save the amount of money we spend on incarceration in the long run.

Schools can play a huge role in how their students make crucial decisions. As an elementary school student and middle school student, I saw films discussing the harm of taking illegal drugs and smoking tobacco. I will never forget the image I saw of the inside of a lung damaged from smoking. I also saw films that discourage you from taking rides with strangers and tell you not to open the door for strangers.

Kids must be raised well. They must be taught to avoid joining gangs and properly resolve conflicts. They must be taught the dangers of sexually transmitted diseases and how to avoid them. Kids must also learn the eternal consequences suicide provides for the person and his or her family.
