With economy issues, and general stresses of every day sleeping can be a thing of the past in just about everyones life here and there. But, before you reach for that prescription sleep remedy, why not try something natural, and affordable?

We all have problems sleeping now and then, whether it be stress from work, children, or finances, we all have things on our mind. After having my second child this past year, I knew sleep would be the last thing I would get to have for the next four months or so. Once my daughter started sleeping through the night, I stopped sleeping!! Maybe my body had gotten used to getting up every two hours, or maybe it was my hormones still out of balance, either way, I needed to get back on track quick!! The first herb that I cam across during my research, was Valerian root, which you can find at Walmart, or any Pharmacy for around $5.00. This clover smelling herb is used for stress, anxiet, stomach, and menstrual cramps, and has been known to have been used for epilepsy also. But, because I was nursing I was unable to take the herb, as pregnant and nursing women are urged not to take Valerian Root. During my pregnancy I had excruiating leg cramps, I also suffered from GERD, therefore I would take a tablespoon of Mylanta everyday, which cured my GERD. While taking Mylanta, I also noticed my leg cramps had stopped, and I slept more soundly at night. One of the ingredients in Mylanta is Magnesium, which can be taken in supplement form, and it is know to relax muscles, and help you sleep!! I went to my local health food store this last week, and found a powder form of Magnesium, that is lightly flavored, they also have it for infants, the name of it is CALM CHILD, or NATURAL CALM. You mix it with water take once or twice a day if you need, and it really does work!! I've been taking it for a week, and I sleep sound, and I dont' feel groggy in the morning! It's realatively cheap, about $20.00 a canister that lasts for about a month, for one person. So if your having problems sleeping, I highly recommend giving it a try!!.
