- Install a rain water collection tank to water your garden.
- Adjust your lawn mower to a higher setting. Taller grass keeps the roots in the shade and the soil holds more moisture.
- When doing laundry, be sure that the water setting matches the amount of clothes in the load.
- Install a dual flush conversion kit on old toilets to reduce the amount of water per flush.
- Instead of watering your lawn on a schedule, check to make sure that it needs water first.
- When hand washing dishes, fill the basin or a tub and wait to rinse until all of the dishes have been washed and scrubbed clean.
- Turn off the water when you shave, this can save up to 300 gallons of water per month.
- Rather than using the garbage disposal for your fruits and veggies, compost them instead.
- Water your grass or garden in the morning or evening to prevent water from evaporating in the sun.
- Share these tips and other conservation tips with your friends.
