With the green movement taking hold, we are finding easier to take easy steps at home for water conservation. Saving water just makes sense.  It saves money, resources, and helps to keep clean ground water for future generations. There are simple steps that we can all take that can add up to real water savings.   Here you will find 10 quick and easy steps to save water at home.

  1. Install a rain water collection tank to water your garden.
  2. Adjust your lawn mower to a higher setting.  Taller grass keeps the roots in the shade and the soil holds more moisture.
  3. When doing laundry, be sure that the water setting matches the amount of clothes in the load.
  4. Install a dual flush conversion kit on old toilets to reduce the amount of water per flush.
  5. Instead of watering your lawn on a schedule, check to make sure that it needs water first.
  6. When hand washing dishes, fill the basin or a tub and wait to rinse until all of the dishes have been washed and scrubbed clean.
  7. Turn off the water when you shave, this can save up to 300 gallons of water per month.
  8. Rather than using the garbage disposal for your fruits and veggies, compost them instead.
  9. Water your grass or garden in the morning or evening to prevent water from evaporating in the sun.
