This island is known to have the most number of volcanoes per square kilometer than any place on earth.

A tropical paradise located in the southern part of the Philippines, this island is said to be "Born of Fire" because it has seven volcanoes unmatched anywhere else in Southeast Asia. This island is called Camiguin Island.

This pear-shaped emerald isle is not only gifted with volcanoes but is also abundant with geological wonders like waterfalls, hot springs and natural landscape created by volcanic eruptions. The soil in this island is so fertile “that any seed you throw in the island will grow” as local saying goes. One of its popular produce is Lanzones, an oval shaped fruit with texture and taste similar to that of a lychee but with a right blend of sweetness and mild tang. In fact, the island has an annual thanksgiving festival called “Lanzones Festival” held every October of the year.

One of the most popular tourist spot in this island is the Sunken Cemetery. A huge white cross marks an old cemetery that was swept into the sea as a result of a volcanic eruption in 1871. It is an ideal place to gaze at the glorious sunset over the ocean. It is also a perfect spot for snorkeling and diving. An annual fluvial parade is held by residents in respect of the sunken graves of their ancestors and also as a thanksgiving for an abundant harvest.

The Philippines as a whole has more than 200 volcanoes and 7 of them are scattered in Camiguin Island. No wonder Camiguin is known to have the most number of volcanoes per square kilometer than any place on earth The 7 volcanoes are namely: Mt. Vulcan Daan, Mt. Hibok-hibok, Mt. Guinsiliban (Tres Marias), Mt. Mambajao, Mt. Timpoong, Mt. Karling and Mt. Ulay. Mt. Hibok-hibok is the remaining active volcano among the seven.
