10 things to put your job search notebook!

Make a job search notebook! It will pay for itself in many ways.

Everybody is looking for a job now. Making a job search notebook can help to give you an edge in the job market. All you need is a new spiral bound notebook and a little preparation. Being prepared is something your new potential employer will notice. In addition to taking your new handy dandy job search notebook, bring your own pen. What you need in a job search notebook is all the information that will be on any application you might fill out. Having all of your information ready means you can fill out just about any application on the spot in five to ten minutes with ease and accuracy.

Here is a list of what to put in your job search notebook. After you read this list add any other info you need in your personal job search notebook. The more information you have the smoother the job search will go.

1. Name and address and previous addresses

2. All your digits, Telephone, cell, pager

3. Educational history complete with school names, dates, addresses and phone numbers.

4. Complete work history. Names, addresses, phone numbers, dates, job responsibilities

5. References take the time to get five people as references. Talk to them and ask them if they will give you a good reference. Again name, address, and phone number

6. Experience write down every kind of job experience you have as well as any other experience you have

7. Awards, memberships in organizations, work related accomplishments, certificates

8. Volunteer work you have done

9. Knowledge. If you know how to do anything write it down here

10. Email and internet address. If you have things on the internet you want an employer to see write it all down here

11. DO NOT WRITE YOUR SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBER IN THIS NOTEBOOK!!! Ok.

These ten things are not an all inclusive list of what to write in your job search notebook. Write down the simple stuff that you already know like your own address. Doing this gives you a little extra confidence that you will have no issue when you get nervous and feel rushed to fill out an application. The real advantage to using a notebook like this is you can fill it out completely and thoroughly at your leisure at home. Then when you are trying to fill out the twelve application of the day and are brain dead, all you have to do is copy the information down. DO NOT WRITE YOUR SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBER IN THIS NOTEBOOK!! Ok.
