Simple and effective ways for mothers to balance work, kids and family life and have more time to themselves. Time management tips that would enable a more fulfilling life.

Time management skills are not just meant for working professionals. Stay at home and work at home moms can benefit equally from time management tips and bring more value and peace to their lives.

Moms all across the world are probably, the most overworked and exhausted. Looking after kids, a home, a family and in most cases, a job are more than enough to tire out the strongest mom ever. However, managing time effectively and using time properly to meet their demands is key to ensuring a balance between work-family-me time and enabling mothers to be able to juggle multiple demands with relative ease.

Here are some  time management tips and tricks that would help all moms to do more in their day-

Set Priorities

Setting down and knowing your priorities would enable mothers to know what to focus on during the day, the week and the month. For instance, if healthy meals are a priority, you would know that you need to set aside time to plan and cook nutritious, wholesome meals. On the other hand, if the priority is outdoor sports for the kids and exercise for the family as a whole, then it would be easy to plan days to accommodate these and ensure that everyone gets their share of sports and exercise.

Write Down Your Timetable

Creating and writing down the family time table and putting it up in a prominent place would ensure effective time management for the family and ensure that everyone knows who is doing what, when and where. This is where schedules and to-do lists come into play. For more on schedules and to-do lists do read Advantages of Schedules and To-Do Lists.

Learn to Say No

This is probably the most important element of effective time management. Mothers generally, tend to say ‘Yes’ to everything, resulting in them getting swamped by too many demands and too many things to do. Learning to say no politely and firmly would ensure that only the most important things get done, leaving you with more time to yourself and for your family.

Don’t be Obsessive about Time

Remember that it is most important to enjoy yourself and be with your family, so, don’t let time and rigid routines rule your day. If things get left over for the next day, don’t lose sleep over it and avoid nagging and being obsessive about getting everything on your to-do list crossed out.

Focus on the Task at Hand

One of the easiest ways of getting things done is to focus on the task at hand. Most moms believe in multitasking and while this may work at times, it usually, results in things getting half-done and more stress. Therefore, it is a good idea to focus on one thing at a time, get it done and out of the way, before moving on to the next task. So, if you are cooking dinner, talking to a friend and helping your five- year old with homework, chances are everything would be getting just a portion of your attention and hence, not getting done properly.

It is indeed, possible and easy to manage time as a mom and get things done without losing your mind. Start in small steps and then, work up to being able to do more in less time easily and effectively.
