How to Find Out What IP You're Using with Windows Vista
This is a step-by-step article that will walk you through finding out what your IP address is when using Windows Vista.
Finding your IP address when using Windows XP can seem like a confusing, frustrating task but I can show you how in 2 easy steps. Once you know what you're looking for it will seem easy.
First click on the Windows circle located on the bottom left of your screen. Your cursor will be in the Start Search box, type in cmd and hit the enter key.
This will open up a DOS window. This window may look daunting but as long as you only type in the commands I specify in this tutorial then you'll be just fine.
In this box you want to type, all in lower case, ipconfig and then hit enter again.

You're going to have a bunch of information come up. The information you are interested in depends on how you are connecting to the Internet. If you are connected via a cabled network card then you will want to look for a line that states : Ethernet Adapter Local Area Connection
Under this heading you will find a few lines of information, IP address should be one of them.
If you are using a wireless network card then you will want to look for Ethernet Adapter Wireless Network Connection and find IP address here.
Type exit and hit the enter key to properly close the DOS window.
That's it, you can now find out your IP address any time you want.
