Learn how to efficiently and effectively PvE and Raid with your Mage in World of Warcraft with this article.

The Mage class in World of Warcraft is one that is supremely powerful, yet quite vulnerable. In order to effectively play your Mage during raid and PvE scenarios, you have to be prepared for the Mage Talent Build ins and outs of the class. Do this and you'll be welcome in any raid, heroic, pvp group, or dungeon.

World of Warcraft Mage Frost Talent Build

Out of the three distinctive trees that Mages can specialize in, Frost is considered to be most potent for leveling. There are many reasons for this but the notable of them are the following:

- Frost is more mana efficient than both Fire and Arcane

- Frost can deal out a significant amount of Burst Damage when the situation is ideal.

- Frost boasts a lot more control spells, thus is great for survivability and endurance in a fight.

When leveling up as a Frost Mage, just like with any other class, you have to weigh your spells and figure out which of them you're going to use most often, then build your specialization to fit. Frostbolt is a huge spell in the Frost Mage's arsenal, so you should maximum it's potential by taking talents that improve it. Frost Nova is another great tool in the Frost Mage's repetoire. This spell grants a great deal of control during a tough fight and should be regarded as your main stability spell. Buff this up as much as possible. With Frost, you'll need to wear gear that increases your chance to critically strike, adds to your spell power and gives intelligence. You can be little bit more lax with Stamina since Frost has such a great deal of survivability and control spells. You won't be getting hit often. Remember, Stamina is only good for when you're being hit.

World of Warcraft Mage Fire Talent Build

The Fire Mage in World of Warcraft cares little about control during a fight. The objective for a Fire Mage is not to take their time and get their opponents in compromising positions to win, but to do as much damage as humanly possible as fast as possible. Fire Mages are also less mana efficient than Frost Mages, but on average, they're able to kill single enemies about 20% faster than a Frost Mage and their burst damage is almost always higher.

- Fire has higher burst damage than any of the trees.

- Fire has more damage over time utility than any of the other trees.

- Fire boasts a higher critical strike capability in normal circumstances than the other trees.

While leveling as a Fire Mage, your first and foremost concern should be spell critical strike rating. Since Fire Spells are less mana efficient than Frost, they already do a formidible amount of damage. Your concern is critically striking on that damage as much as possible. This helps to eliminate targets before they get to Melee range with you and start to even out the battle. Always take talents that improve your critical strike rating and increase your base damage. Again, don't worry about spells you're not using to level up or spells you think are "cool". If they aren't efficient for you, don't buff them up and don't waste the mana on them.
