How to import favourites/bookmarks from Internet Explorer to Firefox and vice versa

Both Microsoft Internet Explorer and Mozilla Firefox present very simple ways to export and import bookmarks/favorites with other browsers. Now I’ll show you how easy it is.

Both Microsoft Internet Explorer and Mozilla Firefox present very simple ways to export and import bookmarks/favorites with other browsers. Now I’ll show you how easy it is.

Importing favorites to Internet Explorer from Firefox

  1. Go to the “File” menu in the top left hand corner of the Explorer screen and click on “Import and Export…”.
  2. Click on “Import from another browser” in the new window and then click “Next” at the bottom of the window.
  3. Click on the “Firefox” check-box in the next screen and finally click on “Import”. Transfer will begin. You will then have all your Firefox bookmarks under the favorites menu of Internet Explorer also.

Importing favorites to Firefox from Internet Explorer

  1. Go to the “File” menu in the top left hand corner of the Firefox screen and click on “Import”.
  2. Make sure “Microsoft Internet Explorer” is checked in the new window and click on “Next”.
  3. In the next screen you can select exactly what you want to import from Explorer.  Make sure “Favorites” is selected to acquire bookmarks.
  4. Click on “Next” and the transfer will begin. It may take some time depending on the speed of your computer and how many bookmarks there are to transfer. You will then be able to see your Explorer bookmarks under the “Bookmarks” menu in Firefox.
