Build a music keyboard stand
learn how to inexpensively build a keyboard stand that you will get a great use out of.
Why go out and buy a stand for your keyboard when you can build one? It's not that complicated, and you can probably find the materials you need around your home. Here's what you will need:
- Drill With Drill Bits
- 150 coarse sand paper
- Screws
- 1-2 flat shelves or boards (measure width of keyboard for right size)
- 4 2x2 boards cut to desired height
- 4 1 ½”x 5/8” corner braces to reinforce the legs to the underside of the top
- Tape Measure
- Paint or Stain (optional)
First off, use your tape measure to get the length and width of your keyboard, so you will know how to cut your board. Use a good quality wood and make any adjustments that you think might be neccessary. Next, use a cloth and get any dirt off your board and sand your board until there are now more rough spots or edges and once again use your cloth to wipe off the dust from sanding. Now your ready to paint or stain your board. Make sure you put an even coat on your board. you want your stand to last you for a long time, so make sure you do a quality job. Allow time for the paint to dry ( more than 5 hours).
Now we are going to attach the braces. Start by measuring and marking where you will be screwing in your braces, making sure they will be evenly placed on all corners. With your flat board upside down, attach the corner braces with your drill and screws to the bottom of the board. Next, you want to attch the legs to the braces. Make sure you are being accurate because you want your project to be able to withstand the weight of your keyboard. Check and make sure the heighth of the legs is suitable to your needs, and if it isn't simply make adjustments.
This is an easy, yet affective project and it's very inexpensive to make. You can add another level to the top for another keyboard or speakers, or whatever you desire. All you need to do is add side boards with brackets to attach the top board to. Hope this has been a good read for you!
