Amethyst is Crystalized Quartz. Its colors vary from pale lavender(Rose-de-France Amethyst) to deep purple with red highlights(Siberian Amethyst). When exposed to strong sunlight for extended periods, amethyst may fade in color. It is one of the most popular gemstones and symbolizes piety.

Amethyst is generally abundant, and a less expensive stone(pennies to a few dollars per carat). Siberian Amethyst is more rare and may bring more like  tens of dollars per carat. There is also a purple variety of corundum, called an Oriental Amethyst. The word comes from the Greek word for anti-intoxicant.

Amethyst is a stone of power, protection, peace and spirituality. It relates to the Crown Chakra, a gateway to higher forces.

This is my favorite gemstone and also my birthstone. I wore a beautiful amethyst filigree cross for the many many years and today where a 3 carat pendant and a diamond and amethyst ring.  I have always worn at least one amethyst, for as long as I can remember. Its healing properties have been an immense help. I hope that you find it useful in your life too.

A lovey pic of a treasured gemstone by many. Such detail in your article helped me learn much. I will stumble this. Thank you for encouraging me to get on this site. Chan told me about it first about a month ago and I am now just posting. I will look for your treasures of prose.

Hi Angelfire, I hope you don’t mind me posting my query here. I tried posting an article with illustrative photos but the photos are not displaying on the live page.
Would you mind telling me how, please.
