The King has been dunked on. Lebron James was dunked on by Jordan Crawford (Xavier) during a pickup game at his Lebron James Skills Academy. Apparently it was a vicious, two handed slam. We'll have to settle for the second hand story since the footage of said dunk was confiscated by Nike officials allegedly at the request of Lebron James.

The King has been dunked on. It's true. Reigning NBA MVP Lebron James was dunked on by Jordan Crawford (Xavier) during a pickup game at his Lebron James Skills Academy. Apparently it was a vicious, two handed slam. We'll have to settle for the second hand story since the footage of said dunk was confiscated by Nike officials allegedly at the request of the King himself.   Ryan Miller, a freelance photographer, was shooting the game when Nike Basketball Senior Director Lynn Merritt requested to take his tape. He stated that Merritt also took tapes from other photographers shooting the event.    Incidentally, there is no policy against filming at the LeBron James Skills Academy, and Miller said he had been filming all day without a problem. Nobody informed him that there was any objection to his filming until after the dunk by Crawford. Miller said that Lebron James called Merritt over and they had a quiet discussion. While Miller could not confirm what was said, Merritt immediately came over and requested the tape. You do the math.   It's not such a huge deal that a college kid (who was probably totally amped up to be playing someone who many believe is the heir to the Michael Jordan throne) threw up a nasty dunk on reigning MVP Lebron James who probably wasn't giving the game his full attention or effort. What is troublesome is that James felt the need to hide it. What was the big deal? Why not laugh it off, concede that the kid could jump, give him his props and move on. The tape would've been a viral hit for a week or two on Youtube and then it would've vanished the next time James did something unbelievable. The fact that James felt the need to cover it up - well, that just screams ego.   Michael Jordan once got beaten one on one by some random CEO (the video can be found at http://www.bytheballsblog.com). He laughed, hugged the guy and moved on. No big deal. He's still widely regarded as the greatest player ever to play the game. That was all James had to do. Instead he has guaranteed that the media will make a big deal of it. He will have to answer countless questions about something that should never have been more than a blip on the radar.
