Find your way to a lady's heart by giving her all the closet space she needs.

It may be every woman’s dream and in fact, Carrie Bradshaw asked only for this from Mr. Big when they were buying a house and getting married – a walk-in closet. You would think that because a walk-in closet is much bigger than ordinary closets, they will be more organized – wrong! In fact, the opposite is quite true. The more closet space you have, the more disorganized it will be, this is a universal truth that is rarely proved wrong.

So, if there are ways and means to organize your ordinary closets, then there will definitely be ways and means to organize your walk-in closet, too.

The first step in organizing your walk-in closet is by taking an inventory of the things contained in your closet and asking yourself if you really need all that stuff. If there are items that you haven’t worn for about a year or two, chances are you might never wear them again and so it should be placed in a bag and taken to your nearest charitable institution. Same goes for dresses which are two sizes smaller for you, hoping that you will eventually be slimmer and finally fit into that wonderful evening gown you bought three years ago. This will be quite a tedious job, particularly for packrats or sentimental people but believe me, there is much to be gained if you give away your stuff that you don’t need.

Next is to take out all the stuff from your walk-in closet and sorting them to piles, according to how you would want your newly organized closet to be. By doing this, you will get an idea of how much closet space you really need, and make sure to tuck in some allowances so that there will be space for that birthday dress you are eyeing.

A walk-in closet is much bigger than ordinary closets and if you are not careful, you might end up with a less organized closet than when you first started on the task. To avoid this, you might want to consult with a professional on what is the best way to optimize your closet space. You can also read up on many articles published online on how best to organize your walk-in closet, and can even avail of some software that are available particularly for the purpose of organizing your closet. Admittedly, this will cost you some money but if it helps you come up with the perfect scheme to organize your walk-in closet, then it is a worthy expense.
