Healthy Food Review: Trader Joe’s Force Primeval Energy Bars
Dost thou know the Force Primeval? Thou shall!
I must admit, I was taken aback by the name Trader Joe’s Force Primeval Energy Bars. It just sounds scary, almost too scary to eat. But there’s probably a good reason behind the name. All I know is that when I was done eating the Force Primeval Bar, I could have slain a dragon or two.
The bars are actually a misnomer. They look more like mini loaves of bread. They are very, very heavy in texture as well. The Force Primeval bars aren’t stiff or stale, per say…they are just very compact, like an NFL running back. About five inches long and two inches deep and wide, each bar has 180 calories, 38 grams of carbs, 4 grams of fiber and 15 grams of protein. There are also 15 grams of sugar, but that’s probably from the raisins. There are also walnuts, dates, wheat sprouts and even a little fruit juice concentrate.
When I took my first bite, I felt the bars were a little chewy. Again, Force Primeval bars are more like little loaves of bread rather than a cereal bar. I put a little Smart Choice butter on it and stuck it in the microwave for 10 seconds to give it some moisture. After that, the bars were a little easier to eat. Once I got to chewing, I could taste all the grains and purity in each bite. I really wanted another piece, but I figured with all that fiber, the Force Primeval might cause other forces inside me to move.
Needless to say, this Trader Joe’s brand is a good one for a quick, morning start if you missed out on a big breakfast. Or if you’re planning to work out after a long day on the job, a Force Primeval Bar about an hour before the gym can give you a good boost of energy with no drag or crash. You might not slay dragons, but you could definitely rip some iron.
