Ebuddy is an Instant Messenger, a kind of page which looks like any messenger software but it does not request its user to download anything. Once it is provided a valid email address and password, it is displayed a list with the respective contacts. Then, the chat is possible.

Ebuddy is an Instant Messaging service, also called Instant Messenger, a kind of page which looks like any messenger software but it does not request its users to download anything because it is not necessary: all is spread in the Internet browser. This represents some advantages as that users do not have to spend space of the hard disk of their computer, and they can be logged which one email in a messenger program and, at the same time, with other email address in Ebuddy. There are, also, some disadvantages as that the service is, sometimes, slow due to the Internet Connection fluctuations, and it is not as comfortable as could be wanted. An example of this last point is that when the user send a personal message to someone, it is difficult for him or her to return to the main contact list.

How it looks?

Ebuddy looks, at the beginning, as the main page of an email service. The home page contains two blank spaces for specifying a valid email address and a password for each of the supported email services. Some of these are the following: GTalk, Yahoo, MSN and ICQ.

Once the visitor has specified one service, it is time to enter to a new window which looks like any messenger program. There the user can see a contact list and dome links to other pages. When he or she marks a contact, it can be started chat or a conversation. The chat window contains tabs with emoticons, symbols and web camera connection, also called video call.

Conclusion

As a personal point of view, I can say that I have used Ebuddy sometimes. However, it is not my preferred site for having conversations in the browser, but when I want to start a video call I always remember that the page is compatible with the web camera. Most of the IM or Instant Messaging services do not include this option.
