Parents instead of allowing their children to learn and grow themselves and be self-reliant, should come forward to pass on their experience to their wards. If they have sufficient financial resources, they should come forward to assist their children when they actually need it.

Should you offer financial aid to your children now or let them wait to inherit?

The general tendency of the parents is that even if they remain uneducated or less educated, they desire that their children should grow up to their potential, well educated, grow in stature as well as in status and attain a good position and become well off economically and get well settled in life. Hence, it may be said that out of their love and affection they become the well wishers of their children. It is quite natural.

Therefore, if parents are economically in a good position, they maintain a good standard of life and also raise their children in a healthy and wealthy background.

But some of the parents though they have love and affection towards their children, do not favor or support the above view point. Before embarking upon any new venture or taking a decision, they always consider their past history, how they struggled to come forward in life etc. They also want their children to face the same kind of ordeal, learn to cope up with, and to undergo the difficult phase of life. They actually want their children to be self-reliant and to come up in life by virtue of their own efforts and hard work. In the process, such parents do not even help their children.

Such an approach is uncalled for and we can say rather unwarranted. There are many ways to gain experience in this world. Hearing from and learning from the experienced persons is one way of gaining experience. Hence, parents instead of allowing their children to learn and grow themselves and be self-reliant, should come forward to pass on their experience to their wards. If they have sufficient financial resources, they should come forward to assist their children when they actually need it. On the other hand, if parents now fail to provide the financial help needed by their children, they may sometimes even struggle to get there where you are.

For example, as a parent you have successfully established yourself as a businessman. Your son wants to do a specialized course in management to equip him and to improve your business. You should help your son with a financial aid to fulfill his ambition, which will not only help your son to equip himself and grow up in life, but also help your business to pick up the latest trends in business. Instead of allowing your child to grow up himself or herself as an island, it is always better to allow them to join your main stream of business and grow further, besides paving the way for their growth.

On the hand, if you do not help your children with a financial aid when they are actually in need and let them grow on their own and inherit later what you have earned, sometimes it may even be counterproductive. Your children may even hate you and in the process lose their self-confidence and remain less resourceful. The net result being your children’s progress may even remain static.

Parents should also know and realize that after all they are your own children, needing your love and affection. What you have earned in surplus and left is going to be inherited by your own children only after your death. Instead of allowing your own children to struggle for money when you are alive, it is always better to help them to attain their cherished goals when you are alive and even become proud parents of your children’s achievements. After all life is so short and let us make it so sweet also by helping our own wards and see that they progress in their life. Who knows what will happen after our death ?

I agree :) I think that it is very sad when parents who can afford it - refuse to pay for their kid's college.........
