Alsace and its side effects

Alsace is a remarkably effective drug commonly given to people suffering from heart complications

Altace is a commonly distributed and prescribed drug and is also particularly interesting to me because of my family's history with heart disease.  Also called Ramipril, Altace is a medication given to people who have hypertension and are susceptible to heart disease.  Most often, it is prescribed with the hope of preventing heart attack or stroke in at risk people.  Altace belongs to a class of inhibitors referred to as angiotensin converting enzymes (ACE), which is, of course, where Altace gets its name.  Its operation is quite simple; it relaxes blood vessels and cardiovascular muscle, allowing for greater blood flow.  ACE inhibitors are all chemically quite similar and complications are rare.

Some Altace side effects worth considering include a loss of energy or strength, chest pain, and in some cases, allergic reactions.  Most people don't experience extremely adverse reactions, however, and it is generally accepted as a mainstream treatment for heart disease.  It is chemically very similar to most other heart disease drugs especially other ACE inhibitors.

Most of the people who take the drug are happy with the results.  In my family, there is a long history of heart complications, often because of smoking.  My grandfather took ACE inhibitors and they were generally benign, and although he eventually died from heart disease his life was lengthened significantly from them.  I don't recall much pain when he passed away; he was alive long enough to tie up loose ends and come to peace with his children and estranged wife (my grandmother).
