Materials Needed for Fashion Jeans

This is a very easy fashion craft to complete. The most important thing you need for this sewing craft is a pair of denim jeans. You can use any style of jeans that you like to wear. You also need a good quality fabric glue. Be sure to check what the washing directions are for the glue. Some glue will not stand up to machine washing.

The final material you need to decorate your fashion denim jeans is an assortment of trims, lace, appliqu patches, or ribbon. Most craft or sewing stores have wide varieties of fabric trim to choose from.

Decorating the Denim Jeans

Depending on what type of fashion trim you have chosen for your jeans, there are different ways to apply it.

The embroidered or beaded appliqu patch is probably the easiest to attach to your jeans. First, choose the location for the patch on the denim. Be sure to take into account how the jeans will bend when you wear them. Then, simply put a generous amount of the fabric glue on the back of the patch and press it to the denim fabric. Be sure to get the edges of the patch down firmly.

Long types of trim, such as ribbon, gathered lace, and woven trims and rick-rack, must be laid out before gluing. These are recommended for use around the cuffs and along seams. One popular application of ribbon-like trim is creating racing stripes up the outside of each leg. Several rows of ribbon and trim can be used around each leg bottom for a particularly fashionable look.

Another method for decorating jeans is through the use of fabric patches. This method can also be used with lace or crochet trims that lay flat. You must be sure that these will not fray on the edges. Of course, if you want a casual frayed look, put the fabric glue an even distance in from the edge and fray the outside consistently all the way around.

Creating stylish designer jeans is easy with some basic stitching or gluing techniques. By using your own personal choice of trim, gems, patches, and other decorations, you can create denim jeans that are a masterpiece of style.
