Effective Acne Scar Treatment

To start, let me define acne that starts the problem. According to wikipedia, acne vulgaris (commonly called acne) is a skin disease caused by changes in the pilosebaceous units (skin structures consisting of a hair follicle and its associated sebaceous gland). Severe acne is inflammatory, but acne can also manifest in noninflammatory forms. Acne lesions are commonly referred to as pimples, spots, zits, or acne.

I was a late bloomer they say. It was only after 19 when I started experiencing problems with my skin. And because I was not used to it I resorted to doing many things just to get rid of the zits but all I got afterterwards was a face full of acne scars. After 5 years I just realized what I did to myself. If only I had let the acne go and never did anything, I would never have had any problem after all. But then it was already too late.

My dermatologist and surgeon said "no". Not too late they say. These days if you are ugly, it is a big sin. Technologies are just around to help you with your problem.

For acne scar treatment you can choose from the following depending on how serious your problem is. But one thing for sure you will achieve what you really want if you have the money.

First, there is the so called "microdermabrassion or powerpeeling (layman's term)". That is if your problem is not that serious. I mean if the scars are not deep, you can have only a few sessions. And this does not cost much compared to other treatments.

Second, dermabrassion which is considered a surgical operation since you will surely bleed if you undergo it. I actually underwent this. I have deep scars so my dermatologist and surgeon suggested that I should undergo this. It costs an arm and a leg but I am quite satisfied with the result. It took me six months before I totally recovered. One session would suffice.

Third is "laser resurfacing" which is the burning of your outer skin by laser. It also costs the same as the second one I mentioned. This is also advisable for deep scar problems. I have not tried this since I've already tried "dermabrassion".

Fourth is the most popular nowadays, the "derma roller". This is also advisable for deep scars. The treatment takes a long time but per session is not as expensive as the second and the third. Sessions interval would be one month. And treatment duration depends on how serious your problem is. The longest would probably take 6 months or so. Some of my friends have tried this and they are quite satisfied. Others seemed to be unsatisfied saying it is only superficial. I should say no wonder why the price is so. I still haven't tried this one. So I am not that qualified to say so.

I therefore conclude, basing on my experience and from what I've seen and shall we say I have it on good authority, I think that "dermabrassion" is the best but you just have to be very careful with the surgeon you choose. That's because the result of it relies solely on the surgeon's skill.
