Television has become a part of lives. It has become a constant companion for the young and old.

Television has become part of our lives. One way or the other, may it be rich or poor, families often have a television set at home. How does telivision pictures reach your set?

Television cameras break picture into electrical signals, separating them into three colours (red, blue, and green) and turning them into coded messages. Sound is recorded and coded at the same time.

The coded pictures and sounds are transmitted by radio waves, electrical cables or optical fibres to the receiver.

Inside the television receiver the signals travel to three electron guns, one for each colour. The electron guns emit streams fo electrons, which are directed at a fluorescent screen.

Magnets bend the electron streams so that they can scan back and forth from top to bottom, exciting the phosphors in the screen and producing a colour image. They scan so quickly that our eyes see the images as a continuous picture.

It is really amazing how television has improved nowadays. We could see that it has become slimmer and slimmer. More than that, they have evolve into bigger screens which could pass thru as a home theater. I was wondering what could be next. Maybe in the long run, we will be seeing televisions that will directly received sattelite feeds. This way, we do not have to connect with cables to watch our favorit cable shows and movies. Maybe we could also have more of those interactive televisions. The future is really bright for these wonderful equipments. We know for sure that technology is always finding ways for the better.
