Finding new ways to earn money at the grocery store can be challenging. Finding true sales takes practice. Are you willing to spend a little extra effort to winning each time your groceries are rung up? Here are a few great tips on saving money at the grocery store.

Taking steps to save more money at the grocery store will take an initial time investment. There should be some time spent preparing to shop. Here are three tips to help you shop frugally each week.

Budget

Decide how much money you are going to spend on food for the month. Plan in advance how many trips you will make to the grocery store. For example if you are paid biweekly, you may try to plan two large shopping trips each month. Write this amount down in your budget. If you have not tried a budget in the past view your bank statements and store receipts to come up with an accurate grocery budget.

Coupons

Purchase two copies of the Sunday paper. This will give you two separate inserts of coupons. Set aside the coupons to use immediately. File the rest of the coupons inside of your filing cabinet.

Sales Flyers

Look in the Sunday paper for the current paper sales flyers at each grocery store. In the event you do not have access to the hard copy of the paper, look online. Go to each grocery stores website and review the current specials. Match the coupons from the paper with any on sale items for additional savings.

BOGO Buy One Get One Free

BOGO items are great with higher priced items. For example when higher priced items go on sale, that is the time to purchase them. If scallops are on BOGO sale at Food Lion purchase them. Great items to look for are cases of soda, fresh produce, meat, fish, and convenience foods.

Choosing to use coupons, review sales flyers, and shop BOGO sales you can always stretch your food budget. If you were planning on buying $ 50 worth of meat products, why not use the BOGO sale to your advantage? Use these tips to save money each time you go to the grocery store.
