A review on Milani's Runway Eyes Fashion shadow, read before you buy.

Before you read this I have to warn you, I am no makeup expert but I know what I like and what I don’t like. I also know what works for me and what doesn’t. Now, I’ve seen Milani at drugstores before but have never felt the need to try their products until I started watching makeup tutorials on Youtube. After watching dozens of videos and hearing all these women (and some men) talk about Milani I decided to give this line a try.

I was pleasantly surprise to find that Milani, for the most part, is a little more inexpensive than some of the other drugstore brands. I don’t wear much makeup because I’m not really a makeup girl. I’m more of the natural beauty kind of a girl that likes to buy skin care products. Well, I have a wedding coming up, not my own but I am the maid of honor and since I have hardly any makeup I thought now would be a good time to try some out.

I went to my nearest Walgreens and looked around. I knew I needed eye shadows if nothing else. I had the basics already but lacked variety in shadow colors. I was also keeping in mind costs, considering the recession and how I rarely wear makeup I didn’t want to spend too much money only to have it sit in my makeup drawer for months going unused after the wedding. I looked around at my options and came across Milani’s Runway Eyes Fashion shadows. I think what got my attention was the vibrant colors. What can I say, I’m a visually stimulated person.

Deciding on the kind of eye shadow was one thing but choosing the colors was another. I must’ve stood there for about ten minutes deciding which colors I should go for. I finally decided on the palette called “Beauty in blues.” As you can gather from the names it’s mostly a blue palette. The compact comes with six intense eye color bars, not the square sections you typically get. It was different and I like different.

The colors are definitely vibrant but the true tests is how it applies and show up on skin. I first tried out the colors on my skin without any primer and it was decent, it’s buildable for sure but the colors weren’t as intense on flesh, and that was the darkest shade. I then tried the colors over eye primer and surely enough the colors showed up much better, much more intense.

I do have to point out that there was a lot of fall out. You really need to make sure you tap your shadow brush for excess and then pat the shadow on to your lid. You’ll still get fall out but it’ll reduce the amount. The colors were also a bit too shimmery for my taste. I’m really not into the disco ball look but to each their own. I’d say if you’re on a budget and want a compact with vibrant colors, Milani’s Runway Eyes Fashion shadow is a pretty good buy for just around $8. You get six shades in each compact and the colors show up well if you apply it properly.
