But I Just Did the Laundry Yesterday!

Do you ever get the feeling that you are chained to your washing machine? Or do you feel that you should send out change of address cards to state that you have permanently moved into the laundry room of your house? Do you ever even see the other rooms of your home.

Okay, there are six of us in the house.  That's a lot of clothes to wash, I know.   But I could swear that sometimes I've seen clothes going into the washer that were never even on any of my kids' bodies during the week.  Do they try the clothes on, change their mind about wearing them, and then just toss them (and I do mean toss) into the hamper because they can't be bothered folding or hanging them up again.

Sometimes I'll walk into their bathroom to get their laundry and I feel as if I am going to drown in all the clothes that have exploded from their hamper.  It's a good thing I can swim. I really don't see why there are that many clothes to wash.  Both of my daughters are in high school so they  wear uniforms during the week and then a few outfits for after school at home.  My sons are younger, so they wear regular clothes to school, but I don't see how all of these "dirty" clothes make their way into, onto, and beside the bathroom hamper.  That is if they even get there at all, sometimes I find them smashed up on their chairs or under their desks in their rooms.

My husband wears a uniform at work and I am a stay at home mom so we don't really make too much laundry of our own, but my kids sure make up for it.  Right now as I am typing this, I have a load in the washer, one in the dryer, one hanging outside drying in the sunshine and another load is waiting to be folded.  Oh, and by the way I already put away one load that was upstairs from yesterday.  And guess what, that's only the "lights".  I still need to get to the "darks" and the "whites".

Thank goodness for modern appliances.  I don't know what I would do if I had to wash clothes the old-fashioned way.  Remember the old wringer washers?  My mom used to have one when I was around eight years old.  I used to think that it looked like fun to use it.  I bet she wasn't thinking that though.
